Zoetrope Bunny Scarf in Graphite Gray - Virgin Wool Cashmere Blend
50% Organic Cotton, 25% Cashmere 25%, Virgin Wool
8" by 75"
This piece is a wearable animation, an exploration of motion translated through knit. Inspired by the zoetrope, a 19th-century optical device that creates the illusion of movement through a sequence of static images, this scarf transforms an everyday object into something far more fantastical.
Each panel was digitally illustrated, then programmed into a Shima Seiki knitting system with careful attention to gauge and sequencing. The result is a series of frames embedded directly into the fabric, an animation that exists within the knit itself.
When worn, the scarf resembles a continuous film strip. The animation is not immediately visible, revealing itself only when the frames are viewed in motion through documented imagery. It becomes something subtle and personal, almost like a secret shared between the wearer and the garment.
Each piece is individually made. Slight irregularities in scale and proportion are part of the process and reflect its experimental nature, ensuring no two are exactly alike.
Using dead stock yarns, this high quality and extremely soft virgin wool cashmere blend are in limited supply and won't be restocked. The material is warm and dense, perfect for fall and winter time.
